Budapest Bár / Debrecen / Kölcsey Központ
Description
Let’s ring in the New Year together with great music and an unforgettable party! A Budapest Bár concert is the ultimate wellness experience: it relaxes, uplifts, and fills you with joy — without breaking the bank. It’s a timeless musical journey through the greatest hits of the past 100 years, reimagined with flair and a touch of gypsy spice.
Budapest Bár never disappoints — it’s always brilliant, always different. Every concert is a vibrant mix of styles, songs, eras, voices, and personalities. Thanks to the outstanding musicians and charismatic vocalists, you can expect an unforgettable, carefree evening on January 15 at the Kölcsey Központ in Debrecen.
This time, the magical Budapest Bár will be joined by a fantastic brass section and a stellar lineup of guest performers: Bora Ferenczi, Vera Tóth, Frenk, László Kollár-Klemencz, Gyuri Ferenczi, Krisztián Szűcs, and the band’s newest vocalist, Barbara Schoblocher from Blahalouisiana.
Budapest Bár has become one of Hungary’s most beloved bands by reinterpreting heart-wrenching and heartwarming songs through the lens of gypsy music. Its unique charm lies in the fusion of top-tier musicianship and iconic voices from Hungarian rock. Originally formed for a single album, the band has now been performing in its one-of-a-kind lineup with twelve singers for over 15 years — making it one of the most sought-after acts on festival stages and concert halls alike.
Their signature style reaches back to the café culture of 1920s–30s Budapest, blending familiar tunes with gypsy roots, jazz, pop, rock, klezmer, and more.
The band’s founder and leader, Róbert Farkas, set out to breathe new life into café gypsy music — preserving and renewing a rich tradition. Thanks to Budapest Bár, long-forgotten melodies have returned to the spotlight and become part of youth culture once again. They’ve dusted off old classics, revived hidden gems, reimagined well-known hits, and even written many new songs in recent years.
Their performances bring together generations, styles, and cultures — which is why both young and old have embraced them as a multigenerational favorite. Budapest Bár dances between genres and lifts you out of the everyday.
Pure joy for open ears.
